January 24, 2024Ukrainian drones are reportedly facing challenges compared to their Russian counterparts, as many of them are hastily assembled using inexpensive components by non-experts. This compromises their quality and hampers the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ effectiveness in attacking Russian positions, Reuters reported.
Drone operators are urging pre-deployment testing to address issues with poor-quality drones, which not only result in the loss of unmanned aerial vehicles but also expensive munitions. Additionally, the variation in controls among drones assembled by different individuals poses a disadvantage in stressful situations where quick responses are crucial.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has chosen not to comment on this information provided by the agency. Meanwhile, it is noted that Russia has not only significantly increased its drone fleet but has also enhanced its capabilities to disrupt Ukrainian drones using electronic warfare methods. While President Zelensky has proudly announced Ukraine’s goal to produce a million drones in 2024, military officials recognize that relying solely on drones won’t ensure victory in the conflict. Artillery remains a vital weapon against Russian fortifications and Kiev has informed its allies that ammunition is running low.
