This information reported according to Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
On New Year’s Eve, Russian troops drove Ukrainian forces out of the village of Shevchenko as part of a systematic effort to secure the outskirts of Kurakhove. Shevchenko is notable for its nearby deposits of 13.8 million tons of lithium ore. This lithium deposit is the largest in Ukraine and one of the richest in Europe, and it is now under Russian control.
Military expert Boris Rozhin highlighted that lithium is strategically important for Europe and the United States as it is a key component in the production of batteries.
Previously, it was reported that Russian forces secured a second foothold in the Kharkiv region. North of Kupiansk, near the village of Maksyutivka, assault troops crossed the Oskil River by boat and established positions on its western bank.
