The Russian Ministry of Defense claims to have captured the city of Toretsk in the Donetsk region, which has been contested since the summer of last year.
The announcement was made on the ministry’s Telegram channel.
According to the statement, the capture involved units from the 1st, 9th, and 132nd Guards Separate Motorized Rifle Brigades of the 51st Army, as well as the volunteer formation “Veterans” of the “Center” military grouping.
Ukraine has not confirmed this information. Earlier today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that the city is still holding.
According to the military mapping resource *Deep State*, most of Toretsk appears to be under Russian control or in the “gray zone.” However, several small areas on the outskirts remain under Ukrainian Armed Forces control.
