01.04.2026 08:01Negotiations on resolving the conflict are on pause amid the war in the Middle East.
This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin in an interview on the sidelines of the Russian-Uzbek conference organized by the Valdai Club and the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan.
He noted that in recent months, Russia, the United States, and Ukraine have held several rounds of trilateral talks aimed at finding political and diplomatic ways to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
“At the moment, the negotiations remain on pause against the backdrop of the U.S.-Israeli aggression against Iran,” the diplomat said.
According to him, the Russian side is ready to continue such discussions.
“But here, it is not only the regularity or frequency of the rounds that matters — what matters is the substance of the agenda,” Galuzin added.
On March 31, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kyiv is ready for a ceasefire and a suspension of hostilities along the current line of contact. According to him, this is a “strong compromise position” on the Ukrainian side.
On March 27, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia is ready for peace talks on the terms it has formulated, and that otherwise Moscow intends to achieve its goals by military means.
