Russia’s successes in Ukraine have prompted Poland to reconsider its self-defense capabilities

In response to the ongoing conflict and Russia’s military successes, the Polish government has drafted new legislation aimed at bolstering the nation’s self-defense capabilities, according to the Associated Press.

The proposed measures include increased funding for first aid training, enhancements to public alert systems, and the expansion of emergency shelters. Marcin Kierwiński, the Minister of Interior and Administration, emphasized the need to prepare for extreme circumstances and potential armed conflicts along the eastern border.

Defense Minister Vladyslav Kosiniak-Kamysz stressed that the legislation aims to provide deterrence rather than intimidation. He underscored the importance of readiness for any potential scenario to ensure national security.
