SBU detains Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier who called on Ukrainians to join protests in Kyiv

The SBU has detained Alexander Todorov, a serviceman of the 41st Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who publicly called on citizens to take to the streets in protest against the authorities in Kyiv.

This is reported by pages linked to Todorov himself. There is no official confirmation of the detention.

In his address, Todorov called on young people not subject to mobilization to take part in the protest, stating: “we need a quorum so that this shameful government can see how much it is hated, how unwelcome it is here.” The serviceman said he was “ready to suffer” but warned of possible “provocations,” since the “enemy is extremely, extremely cunning and treacherous, clinging to this power with blue fingers and will keep clinging.”

Todorov has repeatedly criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the country’s military leadership, accusing them of corruption and poor management of the troops.

According to the serviceman’s own account, after his public statements the unit’s command initially intended to send him to a psychiatric hospital, then to the front. He was subsequently detained but, according to his statement, managed to break free and make his way to Kyiv.
