Scholz plans to call Putin ‘in the coming weeks – Die Zeit

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz plans to hold a conversation with Vladimir Putin “in the coming weeks,” marking the first such dialogue in nearly two years.

This information was reported by the German newspaper “Die Zeit”, citing sources.

It is suggested that the possibility of a phone conversation is being considered ahead of the G20 meeting in Brazil in November.

The last phone call between Scholz and Putin took place in December 2022.

Earlier reports indicated that in two weeks, Scholz is set to meet with U.S. President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Germany.

It’s also worth noting that the German Chancellor ruled out the supply of long-range German missiles to Ukraine and called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Recently, media outlets reported that Scholz is preparing his own peace initiative, which implies ending the war along the current front lines.
