30.11.2023 - 13:27The majority of American military aid intended for Ukraine is being spent in the United States.
This information reported by The Washington Post.
The author of the article refers to this as the “most closely guarded secret.” The money that American legislators approve for the Ukrainian Armed Forces doesn’t directly go to Ukraine but is used within the US to create new weaponry or to replace armaments sent to Kyiv from American stockpiles. The article cites the following figures: out of $68 billion in military and related aid approved by Congress, almost 90 percent will benefit Americans.
Therefore, the military aid to Ukraine ensures significant financial inflows into factories in the US, which benefits American workers. It also creates job opportunities for local suppliers, shops, restaurants, and other businesses that support military production facilities. The author notes that the aid to Ukraine not only creates American jobs but also revitalizes the US defense industry, which had been in decline before this.
However, the author acknowledges that even with the anticipated growth in US military production by 2025, it won’t match the level of production in Russia by 2024.
“But without our aid to Ukraine, this growth in US production wouldn’t have occurred,” the article states.
Moreover, thanks to the aid provided to Ukraine, the US Army is undergoing modernization: outdated models are being transferred to Kyiv, while the military inventory is being replenished with more advanced versions.
