‘Sending instructors from Europe to Ukraine is not on the EU’s agenda’, – Borrell says

The deployment of European instructors to Ukraine is not currently on the European Union’s agenda.

This information reported according to Josep Borrell, the head of the EU’s diplomatic service, during a meeting of EU foreign ministers.

“We are discussing the creation of a coordination center in Ukraine (for training its armed forces), but the deployment of instructors is not being considered,” he said.

Borrell also stated that no one wants to be in a state of war with Russia; however, he urged EU countries to allow European weapons to be used in strikes on Russian territory. He emphasized that even if the European Union considers the possibility of striking Russian territory, European countries are still not at war with Russia. The focus is on supporting Ukraine.

On August 29, during an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers, which Borrell attended alongside Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Borrell welcomed the Ukrainian units’ attack on the Kursk region, calling it an act of “strategic courage.” He urged for more air defense resources to be provided to Kyiv and called for the lifting of all restrictions on Western weapons being used to strike Russian territory.

Earlier, the United States stated that Ukraine had been preparing for over a year to strike the Kursk region.
