Several hundred people gathered for a rally on Maidan Square demanding Zelensky’s resignation

The resignation of Zaluzhny prompted people to gather on Ukraine’s main square. They also chant “Bring back Zaluzhny” and “Zelu (Zelensky) go away.” Yesterday, the president signed a decree dismissing the Chief Commander of the Ukrainian army.

Zaluzhny enjoys a very good reputation both in the army and among the population, so his resignation was perceived negatively by the people. It is evident that the only reason for his dismissal was his high ratings.

The President’s Office regularly conducts public opinion polls, asking people whom they would vote for in the presidential elections. According to the latest surveys, Zaluzhny was polling twice as many votes as Zelensky. It is worth reminding that the revolutions of 2004 and 2014 began on Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square).
