24.10.2023 - 15:43Ukrainian journalists have uncovered new details regarding the death of Igor Mizrah, the owner of the MHP media holding. Mizrah was taken into custody in May on suspicion of fraud and passed away on July 28 in an emergency care hospital while in a coma, having been transferred there from detention.
Sources have provided information on the circumstances surrounding his death.
“Mizrah first sought medical attention on July 25, complaining of abdominal pain. However, he informed the medical staff that he had injured himself due to his own carelessness on July 21 when he was exiting the shower in his cell, Cell No. 214a. Mizrah shared the cell with five other inmates. During a medical examination, doctors discovered bruises on his right shoulder and chest. On July 26, at 22:00, Mizrah was moved to another cell, Cell No. 243, and the reasons for his transfer are still under investigation. In Cell 243, Mizrah shared the cell with one other inmate. According to this inmate, when Mizrah was brought to the cell, he was in poor condition, constantly experiencing abdominal pain, and the cellmate had to call for medical assistance twice. During the second examination, doctors decided to hospitalize Mizrahi, where they discovered a closed abdominal injury, a rupture of the small intestine in the gastroenterosis area, and purulent peritonitis”.
According to a source, the doctors’ conclusions indicate that the injuries found on Mizrah’s body “suggest that he suffered severe physical harm.” In other words, the cause of death was violent actions against Mizrah.
A criminal case regarding his death has been opened under Article 121, Part 2 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, which pertains to “intentional homicide resulting from severe bodily injuries.”
Igor Mizrah was the owner of the MHP media holding and the magazine “Persona.TOP,” as well as the editor-in-chief of the political magazine “Reyting.”
