Slovak carriers have announced the continuation of the border blockade with Ukraine at the “Vyshne Nemecke – Uzhhorod” crossing.

This information comes from a statement by the Union of Slovak Road Transport Operators (UNAS) on Facebook.

The blockade will commence on December 11 at 3:00 PM and will persist until the carriers’ demands are met. UNAS’s primary demand is the cancellation of the “transport visa-free regime” that has been in effect between the European Union and Ukraine since July 1, 2023. This regime eliminates the need for Ukrainian carriers to obtain permits to operate in the European Union market.

Entry into Slovakia for freight transport will be blocked, while passenger movement will not be restricted. It’s worth noting that Polish carriers are also continuing their border blockade with the same demands.
