02.11.2024 - 13:30Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, during his visit to China, blamed the West for Russia’s current invasion of Ukraine and instead praised Beijing’s “peacekeeping” efforts.
This was reported by the Slovak outlet RTVS.
Following discussions with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Fico stated that both leaders shared the view that it is “impossible to immediately cease hostilities as long as Ukraine continues to receive military and financial support from the West to continue the war.”
Instead, the Slovak Prime Minister highlighted the China-Brazil “peace initiative,” which he plans to discuss further during his visit to Brazil in December. He also announced that Bratislava would be joining the United Nations “Friends of Peace” group, led by China and Brazil.
Fico also criticized the European Union, claiming it “continues its military rhetoric,” and blamed the West for escalating the situation.
“It was Western politicians in April 2022, shortly after the conflict began, who did everything to avoid signing realistically prepared peace agreements. Zelensky’s peace plan was shelved as unrealistic, and instead of presenting a revised version, the Ukrainian president now promotes a victory plan,” Fico stated.
He also noted that, according to him, Zelensky asked the EU to place nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
