Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico will discuss the cessation of Russian gas transit through Ukraine with representatives of the European Commission.

Fico’s meeting with EC representatives will take place on Thursday, January 9, in Brussels.

Earlier, it was announced that the European Commission had canceled a meeting on the issue of gas transit through Ukraine, which was scheduled for January 7. The cancellation was due to the Ukrainian delegation’s decision not to participate in the talks.

It is worth recalling that on the morning of January 1, Gazprom halted the supply of Russian gas through Ukraine after the expiration of the transit agreement in effect since December 30, 2019.

Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó has urged Kyiv to fulfill its obligations regarding gas deliveries.
