January 7, 2025The Russian army is on the brink of reaching the Dnipro River: since the beginning of the year, it has captured eight villages south of Pokrovsk, and “its advance now seems unstoppable.”
This was reported by Bild and its editor Julian Röpcke.
The report highlights the inevitability of upcoming battles in the Dnipropetrovsk region, with Russian units now just seven kilometers away. It also notes that instead of attacking Pokrovsk head-on, Russian forces are bypassing it from the south.
“Russian troops face little resistance on the ground but are frequently targeted by Ukrainian drones. Due to a shortage of soldiers, the Ukrainian Armed Forces can only slow the enemy’s advance but cannot stop it,” Röpcke writes.
He suggests to *Bild* readers that within weeks, the war may spill over into the Dnipropetrovsk region, which has so far been spared from ground combat.
