19.06.2025 - 08:25Slovak police are searching for former Defense Minister Jaroslav Naď in connection with assistance provided to Ukraine.
According to the agency, police conducted searches at multiple locations and attempted to detain Naď, who served as defense minister from 2020 to 2023. However, he was in Canada on vacation at the time of the investigative actions.
Slovakia’s Foreign Ministry stated that the investigation relates to the possible illegal transfer of ammunition to Ukraine by the previous government. Specifically, it concerns potential violations of budgetary laws. The government of current Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has also called for an investigation into the transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets and air defense systems to Ukraine.
As a reminder, last year it was reported that Slovakia’s new leadership was taking legal action against its predecessors for the delivery of MiG-29 jets and components for the “Kub” air defense system to Ukraine in March 2023.
Officially, Bratislava confirmed it had transferred 13 MiG-29 fighter jets to Kyiv.
