The military claims that the attack began two days after the rotation on this section was completed: the 24th brigade was transferred from this direction to Chasiv Yar, and from there to the 41st. Although the soldiers saw signs of an impending offensive and warned the command about it.

“It was a big mistake that we were pulled out from there,” stated Sergeant Lyakhovich.

As a result, the 41st brigade was unprepared to defend Toretsk, as they were unfamiliar with the terrain. The brigade commander was also criticized for issuing “unclear orders and not responding quickly to the changing threat environment.”

“There were losses in the battalion due to the meaningless orders of the senior commander” of the 41st brigade, said Senior Lieutenant Yevhen Strokhan, platoon commander of combat drones of the 206th Territorial Defense Battalion, whose soldiers were transferred under the command of the 41st brigade.

“This is already an axiom of war – senior commanders, in the overwhelming majority, cannot or refuse to objectively assess the capabilities of the personnel under their command,” wrote Deputy Commander of the 206th Battalion Roman Kulyak on social media.

The 41st brigade stated that it is “outraged by this incomprehensible and strange campaign to discredit the command of our unit and our soldiers.”
