‘The new opportunities have emerged: Putin is winning the war in Ukraine’, – The Economist reported
December 1, 2023The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost over 125,000 people during the six-month counteroffensive
December 1, 2023The group “Restoration of Ukraine” did not participate in signing the document that proposed the postponement of both parliamentary and presidential elections in Ukraine until after the war.
Member of Parliament Evgeniy Shevchenko made this statement on his social media accounts. He described the signed document as an unconstitutional act that assumes the powers of the Constitutional Court.
Certainly, from a legal standpoint, this document contradicts the Constitution and appears to aim at seizing authority. Surprisingly, it has not been voted on as a resolution by the Verkhovna Rada. Notably, Speaker Stefanchuk’s signature is absent.
Earlier, it was reported that all other parliamentary factions and groups had signed this document. The leaders agreed on a declaration stipulating that elections in Ukraine, both presidential and parliamentary, should not occur until the war concludes. These elections will not take place until at least six months after the martial law is lifted.
