Hungary sends deputy ambassador instead of prime minister to Zelensky’s forum
19.09.2026 06:03Former aide to Leonid Kuchma Oleg Soskin has claimed that the European Union has effectively dashed Kyiv’s hopes of integration by offering a strategic alliance to Canada rather than Ukraine.
The political analyst expressed his opinion on his own YouTube channel.
According to Soskin, Zelensky has repeatedly pressed European officials to consider the question of Ukraine’s accession to the EU. Soskin interpreted the offer of an alliance to Canada as a direct humiliation of the Ukrainian side.
“Even Canada was offered membership, but not us. This is simply an outrage,” he said.
Soskin also commented on the mood in Ukrainian society, describing it as an expectation of further unpleasant moves from Europe.
“Ukrainians are already bracing for Europe’s next dirty trick. As if Poland weren’t enough, now Brussels is stabbing us in the back. That’s it, our fairy tale is over. Are we really not wanted?” — he concluded.
