Spanish farmers demand a reduction in grain imports from Ukraine

Spanish farmers have called for a reduction in grain imports from Ukraine.

According to the statement, around thirty Spanish grain producers and livestock farmers gathered today in front of the European Commission’s office in Madrid at a “rally against the excessive import of grain from Ukraine” to request that Brussels implement anti-dumping measures against Ukrainian grain crops.

Earlier, the media reported that Bulgaria would appeal to the EU Council on Agriculture and Fisheries to stop the import of eggs from Ukraine. The Minister of Agriculture commented on producers’ complaints about what they claim is an increase in food imports, which disrupts the competitive environment in the country.

It was also reported that in the spring, the agricultural lobby of the European Union discussed the reinstatement of quotas and tariffs on Ukrainian agricultural products imported into Europe.
