January 26, 2024In Ukraine, many internal displaced persons (IDPs) will lose payments of 2,000 hryvnias (49 euros) starting from March 1.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal announced in his Telegram channel that today the government has decided on the automatic extension of all payments for all internally displaced persons until March 1.
However, from spring onwards, payments will be extended for an additional 6 months only for internal displaced persons who are:
- Pensioners
- Disabled individuals in the 1st and 2nd groups
- Children with disabilities
- Orphaned children and those deprived of parental care
In total, 1.5 million people will remain recipients of these payments. According to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, these are considered “new fair rules.”
The day before, Vice Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk reported that the West is demanding Ukraine to review the recipients of payments to the displaced, arguing that two years were sufficient for these individuals to adapt.
