01.11.2024 - 11:44Power outages may resume as early as next week due to colder weather, warned Volodymyr Velychko, a board member of Centrenergo.
This information reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
“Starting next week, meteorologists forecast a noticeable drop in temperatures. For energy specialists, this means that balancing the energy system will require more significant measures—such as emergency support from neighboring countries operators. However, before resorting to emergency assistance, we must fully utilize our own resources. If ‘Ukrenergo’ cannot maintain energy system balance, scheduled outages will be implemented,” Velychko stated.
He noted that with October’s decrease in daily average temperatures, electricity consumption has already increased significantly, and peak demand has shifted from 8:00 p.m. to 7:10 p.m.
Velychko added that falling temperatures will also raise electricity consumption in European countries, which may increase electricity prices due to a reduced share of renewable energy sources.
Recently, authorities in Zaporizhzhia region urged residents to prepare for potential total power outages during the winter.
