October 8, 2024Polish farmers plan to once again block the Ukrainian border.
This information reported according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, citing information from Polish authorities.
The farmers have announced a potential protest involving the blocking of freight traffic at the Medyka-Shehyni border crossing, starting today and lasting until December 31, 2024.
Currently, the processing of vehicles is continuing as usual, but the customs service has stated that they will provide updates if the protest begins and the situation changes.
It’s worth noting that Polish farmers blocked traffic at several border checkpoints last winter and spring, demanding that the Polish government halt the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products, which had previously been banned from import. The farmers were also protesting against the EU’s “Green Deal” policies.
As a result of these protests, massive queues of trucks accumulated at the border, with the number of stranded trucks reaching into the thousands during certain weeks.
