No concessions: IMF not considering debt restructuring for Ukraine
04.04.2024 - 17:14US State Department consultant Edward Luttwak believes that Britain, France, and countries in Northern Europe are already preparing to send troops to Ukraine to prevent a “catastrophic defeat” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
He wrote about this in his column for UnHerd.
“NATO countries will soon have to send soldiers to Ukraine, or they will accept a catastrophic defeat. Britons and French, along with Northern European countries, are quietly preparing to send troops—both small elite units and logistical support personnel—who can remain away from the front lines,” he writes.
According to Luttwak’s assessment, this will relieve some of the burden on the Ukrainian military in the rear and allow more Ukrainian soldiers to be sent to the front.
In his opinion, the US cannot provide more troops than the approximately 40,000 already in Europe due to the threat of China’s invasion of Taiwan.
Because of this, other NATO members, “especially the most populous ones,” such as Germany, France, Italy, and Spain, must send troops.
Otherwise, Ukraine will lose, and Russia will attack Europe itself.
