24.11.2024 15:49Switzerland has severed ties with a Polish military company over the re-export of ammunition to Kyiv.
This was reported by the Associated Press.
The Polish supplier sent 645,000 small-caliber Swiss-made cartridges to Ukraine, even though it did not have the right to do so.
Swiss law prohibits the export of military equipment owned by Switzerland or produced in Switzerland to countries involved in conflict.
The Swiss government learned about the re-export from the press, after which it launched an investigation and discovered that the Polish company UMO was sending Swiss ammunition to Ukraine.
Earlier, Politico reported that the Swiss government had been advised to reconsider its long-standing policy of neutrality, which the country has maintained since 1515, and to work on a “common defense potential” with the European Union and NATO.
It was also previously reported that neutral Switzerland does not intend to adopt emergency laws for the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
