25.10.2024 11:22The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, has reported to President Volodymyr Zelensky about Russia’s alleged deployment of North Korean military personnel.
Zelensky shared this information on his Telegram channel.
He noting that intelligence suggests the first North Korean soldiers are expected to be active in combat zones by October 27-28.
“This is a clear escalation by Russia, a move of significance unlike the misinformation that’s been circulating in Kazan in recent days,” the post reads.
In response, Zelensky called on the West to counter these actions with “tangible pressure” on Moscow and Pyongyang, rather than passive reactions or confused comments.
Regarding the situation on the front lines, Syrskyi reported that “in Donbas, the situation is difficult, but our combat brigades are holding their positions and doing everything possible to destroy the enemy.” In the Kursk region, Ukrainian forces are “executing our objectives.”
Earlier in October, Ukrainian media reported the presence of North Korean troops in Ukraine. According to *Kyiv Post*, citing intelligence sources, six North Korean officers were killed, and three others were wounded in a missile strike on October 3 near Donetsk. On October 14, Zelensky also stated that North Korea had “effectively joined” Russia’s war against Ukraine.
