October 1, 2025Flyers have appeared in Berlin calling on residents of the German capital to go fight in Ukraine.
This was reported by the newspaper Berliner Zeitung.
The flyers invite Germans to join the International Legion fighting in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. They carry the slogan “Take Revenge” alongside an archival black-and-white photograph of German prisoners of war from World War II.
A QR code on the flyer leads to a page with an application form to join the unit on the official website of the Ukrainian government.
It is not known who is distributing the flyers.
According to the newspaper, the flyers began to appear in mid-September, but were later torn down by someone.
The publication reminds readers that under Germany’s Criminal Code, recruitment for military service in a foreign state is considered a crime punishable by a fine or up to five years in prison. Exceptions apply only if there is a special agreement between Germany and the respective state — but no such agreement exists with Ukraine.
As a reminder, in April, recruitment centers were authorized to bring in foreigners to fight in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Meanwhile, the Verkhovna Rada recently reported cases where foreign mercenaries came to fight for Ukraine but later switched to the Russian side because of higher pay.
