The $300 million in military aid allocated by the US for Ukraine cannot be utilized – Politico

On Saturday, March 23, the United States allocated $300 million in military aid to Ukraine. However, Ukraine will not be able to use it.

At the end of last week, for the first time this year, the US Congress allocated military aid to Ukraine. The $300 million allocated under the “Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative” was included in the budget passed by Congress and signed by US President Joe Biden on Saturday.

This program allows for contracts to be made with weapons manufacturers and their products to be provided to Ukraine. However, in reality, these funds were already spent under this program back in November, a representative of the presidential administration told the newspaper.

“We cannot use these $300 million now,” the official said.

The inclusion of these funds in the budget was “a gesture from Washington that the US has not left the game,” explained sources in the White House to the publication.

Earlier, the White House stated that the new package of military aid from the US to the Ukrainian army would last for a couple of weeks.
