03.02.2025 - 05:35A close ally of new US President Donald Trump, billionaire Elon Musk, has accused the US agency USAID of funding a Chinese laboratory, from which, according to claims in the United States, the coronavirus originated.
Musk made the relevant statements on his social media platform X.
“Did you know that USAID, using YOUR tax dollars, funded biological weapons research, including COVID-19, which resulted in the deaths of millions of people?” Musk wrote.

The entrepreneur shared a post from an external blogger, stating that USAID invested $53 million into EcoHealth Alliance, which then used the funds “to support research on gaining function of coronaviruses in a laboratory in Wuhan.”
The blogger’s post also mentions that USAID “has been repeatedly linked to intelligence activities,” and its former director, John Gilligan, admitted that the agency “was top to bottom infiltrated by people from the CIA,” explaining that “the idea was to implant spies into every kind of activity we were conducting abroad: government, volunteer, religious, anything.”
Additionally, the post claims that “USAID was involved in coups in Haiti, Ukraine, Egypt, and other countries.”
Commenting on this, Musk stated that USAID is “a nest of left-wing radical Marxists who hate America,” adding that it “must die.”

Soon after, Elon Musk removed the USAID account from his social media platform X. It had nearly a million followers.

The official USAID website also stopped functioning, as its operations were frozen by the new US President Donald Trump.

As previously reported, USAID funded over 100 organizations in Ukraine, including media outlets, with a total of $7 billion; it also sponsored programs in energy, healthcare, and gender inclusivity.
Earlier, a close ally of Trump proposed massive budget cuts for the US, amounting to $4 billion per day.
