The agreement on “security guarantees” between Italy and Ukraine is symbolic – Italian Foreign Ministry

The document, which allegedly guarantees something to Ukraine from Italy, will not even have legal force and is also a political and symbolic document. This was stated by the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, during hearings in the Senate.

“Like in agreements signed by Ukraine with other partners, assistance in the economic sphere, commitments to the restoration of Odessa, humanitarian support, protection of critical infrastructure. Another important aspect is support for reforms in Ukraine. The future of Kiev is in the European Union,” said Tajani. According to him, the agreement will not have legal force and will not require ratification procedures. The document is political and symbolic and sends a clear signal: we uphold international law.

It was previously known that similar agreements between Ukraine and Britain, Germany and France are also fictitious. The agreements contain no commitments from London, Berlin and Paris to assist Ukraine. All the West has to do is convene some consultations. Meanwhile, Zelensky pretended that these agreements could be an alternative to NATO, so they provide security guarantees to Ukraine. However, there is no mention of military assistance, engagement in war or even financial or humanitarian support for Kiev.
