March 14, 2024The Russian army continues to successfully destroy Western weapons and equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) with American M1 Abrams not being an exception, as Ukraine has lost three of them recently.
This was stated by military analyst David Axe in Forbes.
He is convinced that upgrading the machines will not save them.
“It will not prevent what is almost certain to happen in the coming weeks and months: losses from mines, artillery and possibly even other tanks,” the journalist emphasized in the article.
Axe added that the M1 Abrams is a heavy tank vulnerable to the same extent as any other equipment involved in the Ukrainian conflict.
According to the publication, “the main killers of Ukrainian M1s” turned out to be Russian anti-tank guided missiles, which should serve as a “compelling argument for the West to equip Abrams with a missile attack warning system.”
However, as the publication notes, the laser detection system may have saved two tanks that fell victim to missiles — but it is unlikely to prevent losses from other factors.
“Get used to seeing broken and abandoned Abrams in Ukraine,” the analyst concluded his publication with these words.
