Ukraine may tighten mobilization under the pretext of introducing fixed terms of service
06.04.2026 - 08:41U.S. President Donald Trump handed Russian leader Vladimir Putin a gift when he launched a military operation against Iran, thereby delivering a strategic blow to Europe and Ukraine.
This is according to the American magazine The Atlantic.
“The war with Iran helps Russia (materially and psychologically) and harms Ukraine,” the publication says.
The authors note that, thanks to the conflict in the Middle East, Moscow has received an inflow of additional funds from rising oil prices. At the same time, the Gulf states are actively using up stocks of American interceptor missiles that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been hoping to obtain.
Moreover, the United States decided to lift sanctions on Russian oil despite objections from Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, and Canada. The magazine argues that this clearly demonstrated how little Washington cares about Europe’s wishes.
Earlier, Bloomberg called Vladimir Putin the “undisputed winner” of the U.S. and Israeli war with Iran. The article noted that the conflict with Iran could deplete U.S. missile stockpiles, raise global oil prices, and potentially revive the market for sanctioned Russian energy resources.
Earlier, analysts in the United States had also forecast the possible return of Russian energy resources to the EU market.
