30.07.2024 22:33In the European Union, the 3rd Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, created from the volunteer Territorial Defense unit “Azov,” is being accused of neo-Nazism.
Czech Member of the European Parliament from the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia, Kateřina Konečná, opposed the arrival of representatives of the brigade in Prague.
Konečná complained to the head of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jan Lipavský, about the visit of the fighters from the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade and former “Azov” fighters to Prague.
“The ‘Azov’ regiment is the worst manifestation of Ukrainian nationalism and neo-Nazism. The regiment was founded by a racist, member of the ‘Right Sector,’ Andriy Biletsky, nicknamed ‘White Leader,’ and is led by Denys Prokopenko, a neo-Nazi and football hooligan of Kyiv ‘Dynamo.’ The activities of this regiment have been criticized in the past, particularly by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights,” Konečná wrote in her message to the minister.
The arrival of fighters from the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade in the Czech Republic was scheduled for Wednesday, July 31, as part of a “tour across Europe.” Similar events were also planned to be held in Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium, but they were canceled due to protests from left-wing forces.
In 2019, the US Congress wanted to recognize “Azov” as a terrorist organization. However, this was never done.
