The battalion commander who detonated a volunteer vehicle has escaped justice

In court, the battalion commander Andriy Salehman was found not guilty, while the military personnel who reported the crime had to transfer to a different unit due to continual threats from the former commander.

In May 2023, Major Andriy Salehman, the commander of the 125th Territorial Defense Brigade, detonated a grenade in the evacuation vehicle belonging to his own brigade because the soldiers had decided to refuel with their own funds in Krasnyi Lyman. Following the release of a video recording by the vehicle owner, Salehman began to exert pressure and issue threats to persuade the individual to publicly retract their statements. Nonetheless, the soldier resisted the provocations and declined to comply.

The exoneration of the battalion commander once again underscores the rampant lawlessness within the 125th battalion. This is highlighted by humanitarian assistance is misappropriated, commanders act with impunity and the soldiers within the unit are treated with disdain.
