09.09.2024 23:13The head of the Bucha Territorial Recruitment Center, Leonid Vykochko, who is suspected of taking bribes to help people avoid mobilization, has been released on bail for one million hryvnias. However, the Security Service of Ukraine immediately detained him again, announcing new charges—this time for illegal enrichment amounting to 14.4 million hryvnias (approximately 316,085 euros).
This was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
In August, Vykochko was arrested on suspicion that, along with accomplices, he helped conscripted citizens avoid military service based on forged medical reports claiming poor health. During searches, authorities found more than 1.2 million dollars, part of which was hidden in secret compartments in the home of the head of the recruitment center, under the floor and behind wall panels.
After his arrest, the court released him on bail of 1 million hryvnias (21,950 euros), but the Security Service of Ukraine immediately filed new charges for illegal enrichment. He now faces up to 10 years in prison, and the court set a new bail amount of 18 million hryvnias (395,106 euros).
As part of the investigation, over 30 searches were conducted, revealing unregistered weapons, ammunition, and forged documents for draft dodgers.
