27.08.2025 - 05:03Ukrainian men aged 18 to 22 will be allowed to cross the border freely during martial law.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko announced this in her Telegram channel.
According to her, today the government updated the rules for crossing the state border. The change applies to all citizens within this age group.
Svyrydenko also noted that the government’s decision to allow men aged 18–22 to leave Ukraine applies equally to those currently abroad.
“This decision also applies to citizens who, for various reasons, are outside the country. We want Ukrainians to maintain their ties with Ukraine as much as possible. The changes will take effect the day after the official publication of the decree,” she wrote.
Media outlets commented on her statement: “That means these young men can now return to Ukraine and then leave again, according to the prime minister’s logic.”
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainian men under 22 years old could be allowed to travel abroad as early as today, though he did not clarify what the new rules would be.
On the same day, MP Oleksii Honcharenko submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada proposing to lift all restrictions on leaving Ukraine for men of military age — from 18 to 60.
