The Chernihiv Drama Theater temporarily closes due to the mobilization of almost all male employees

The Chernihiv Drama Theater is temporarily closing due to the mobilization of almost all its male employees. Some men have already been sent to military training exercises.

This was announced by its artistic director, Andriy Bakirov.

The Territorial Recruitment Center sent a letter summoning 34 employees, including seven actors, two sound engineers, a stage technician and a violinist. A 56-year-old honored artist and a 59-year-old driver also received summons.

Out of these, 7-8 people went for further medical examinations after visiting the Territorial Recruitment Center, while the rest have already gone to training.

The theater had applied for exemptions for its employees but did not receive any.

“Our theater will be closed for an indefinite period. We can hardly do anything. We can only work on something new. Everyone is in a state of shock. Almost all the men were taken. Only those with exemptions for certain reasons, a young 24-year-old actor, some students and retirees remain,” said Bakirov.

Earlier, the Youth Theater in Chernihiv canceled performances due to the mobilization of its artists.
