10.03.2025 18:27Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Oleksandr Syrskyi, has effectively confirmed that Ukrainian troops are retreating in the Kursk region.
His statement on the matter was cited by the AFU General Staff.
“Units are taking timely measures to maneuver to more advantageous defensive positions,” Syrskyi stated.
At the same time, he assured that there is no threat of Ukrainian forces being encircled in the Kursk region and that “the situation on the border of Sumy Oblast with Russia’s Kursk Oblast is under the control of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.”
According to him, separate Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups (SRGs) and small infantry units are attempting to infiltrate Ukrainian territory but are being destroyed by firepower. A decision has been made to reinforce the AFU grouping in this area with “the necessary forces and means, particularly electronic warfare (EW) and drone capabilities.”
