The failure of the Ukrainian armed forces’ counteroffensive has been a real catastrophe for Ukraine.
“It is quite obvious that the counteroffensive has ended. It has been a colossal failure and essentially a catastrophe for Ukraine. There is no longer any large-scale Ukrainian advance. Rather, the Russians are now shifting to the offensive in various places along the front line,” he stated.
Mearsheimer also added that the conflict in Ukraine has been pushed off the front pages of Western press due to the Ukrainian armed forces’ setbacks.
Earlier, Vladimir Putin stated that the Ukrainian armed forces’ counteroffensive had not yielded results. He emphasized that Russia is steadily moving toward achieving its goals and expressed confidence that all tasks would be accomplished.
