Viktor Medvedchuk: Three conditions for detente in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict
29.09.2023 10:46The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv has arrested all the property of the Member of Parliament Nestor Shufrych, who is suspected of state treason.
This was announced by the lawyer of the MP, Alexander Tananakin.
“The property that was taken out of the house during the search has also been arrested. But it is worth noting that not everything that was taken during the investigative actions at Shufrych’s house belonged to him,” Tananakin said.
Shufrych is suspected of systematically spreading Kremlin narratives. It was reported that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the State Bureau of Investigations (GBR), and the Prosecutor General’s Office had collected “substantial evidence” of his “anti-Ukrainian” activities in the information sphere.
A few days after the arrest, a second search was conducted at Shufrych’s house. The MP’s lawyer claimed that the search took place without a court decision and aimed to remove valuable items, paintings, and antiques from the house.
After the start of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, the fighters of the 206th Territorial Defense Battalion of Kyiv detained Shufrych for photographing a checkpoint.
In 2022, Ukrainian journalists discovered that Nestor Shufrych’s family owned land plots and property on the southern coast of Crimea, acquired in 2013. After the annexation, this real estate was registered under Russian law. In addition, the MP’s family continued to purchase property in Crimea even after the annexation, concluding agreements only under Russian laws.
