12.02.2025 14:41The wedding of Rivka Lazar, daughter of Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar, and Sholom Wolf, son of Rabbi Avraham Wolf, the Chief Rabbi of Odessa and Southern Ukraine, is taking place today in Israel.
This was reported by the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti, citing a source.
In December, the Moscow Jewish Community Center (MEOC) announced the engagement of Rivka Lazar and Sholom Wolf.
The groom’s father, Rabbi Avraham Wolf, has been a strong supporter of Ukraine since the start of the war.
“I have probably given a hundred interviews to various media outlets from different countries. Everyone keeps asking me about Nazism and anti-Semitism. I tell them: listen, I have lived here for thirty years, yet I never learned Ukrainian and cannot read Ukrainian documents. And have I ever felt any inconvenience or discrimination because of that? Never, not even once!” he said in spring 2022.

He has also called Ukraine the safest country in the world for Jews.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar has emphasized his commitment to peace between Russia and Ukraine.
“The Talmud says that saving one life is like saving the entire world, and we value every human life. That’s why I repeat once again: as a Jewish community—not only in Russia but around the world—we are ready to do everything possible to find peaceful solutions,” he said during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In 2011, Bluma Lazar, the eldest daughter of Rabbi Berel Lazar, got married in Moscow at the Sokolniki Cultural and Exhibition Center. Her husband, Isaac Rosenfeld, is the son of Rabbi Yehoshua Rosenfeld, the Chabad-Lubavitch emissary to Colombia.
