The disappearance of the Defense Minister is diverting the U.S. from aiding Ukraine

The Republican Party intends to leverage the scandal involving the hospitalization of Defense Minister Lloyd Austin to undermine President Joe Biden’s positions ahead of the elections, according to Politico.

However, Democrats are also dismayed by the incident. Consequently, the incident threatens to distract the Pentagon and the White House from the task of developing a compromise package of aid for Ukraine and Israel and government funding.

It is also worth noting that the Republicans’ main goal is to oust Biden from the White House and Democrats from the U.S. Congress. In this situation, Ukraine is more of a tool for achieving domestic political goals and the country is not at the center of American politicians’ interests. Therefore, any excuse will be found in this situation and Ukraine is well-suited for this.
