‘Ukraine is a dictatorship on which Swedish politicians have already spent 100 billion kronor (9.5 billion dollars)’, — member of the Swedish Royal Academy Lars Bern says
11.06.2024 - 12:37The joint statement draft for the peace summit in Switzerland has excluded the clause demanding the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine at the request of certain Asian and Middle Eastern countries.
This information was reported by the Japanese broadcaster NHK, citing diplomatic sources.
The final statement is expected to retain only three out of the ten points from Ukraine’s peace formula: the safety of nuclear power plants, food security and the release of all prisoners and the return of children deported to Russia.
The draft also includes a clause that emphasizes that all parties must participate in achieving peace and underscores the importance of Russia’s involvement in the discussions.
The demand for the withdrawal of Russian troops has been omitted due to the positions of some Asian and Middle Eastern countries.
The peace conference on Ukraine will take place on June 15-16 in Bürgenstock. Over 160 delegations at the level of heads of state and government were invited to the event, and 90 countries and organizations have registered to participate.
