Orban considers Europe’s ‘military strategy’ on Ukraine fundamentally mistaken
03.10.2025 - 11:31The European Union fears that the victory of the opposition political movement ANO (“Action of Dissatisfied Citizens”), led by former Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, in the parliamentary elections on October 3–4, 2025, could affect Prague’s stance on Ukraine.
This was reported by the British newspaper The Guardian.
The main concern for the EU is the “possibility that another anti-Brussels agitator will emerge in Central Europe” — namely, the Czech Republic, which could side with Hungary and Slovakia.
Babiš has stated that if his party wins the elections to the lower house of the Czech parliament — the Chamber of Deputies — then under his leadership, Prague will support “diplomatic steps to end the war in Ukraine and eliminate the risk of war in Europe,” while focusing on strengthening cooperation with neighboring countries as well as with partners in the Visegrád Group (Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary).
