Whether Ukraine can endure the year 2024 and withstand Russian pressure depends on the extent of assistance from Western countries, which have been reducing financial and weapon flows to Kyiv, according to British Defense Minister Grant Shapps in Politico.
The politician believes that this year could be decisive for Ukraine, largely hinging on the support of Western allies. “Putin believes that the West can be ‘worn out.’ He thinks we lack strategic patience. And we must prove him wrong. In this pivotal ‘year of democracy,’ the fate of Ukraine is in the hands of the West. We cannot let them down,” the minister asserts.
If Russia prevails in this war, it will only embolden the Kremlin, putting other Eastern European countries in its crosshairs, writes Grant Shapps. He also noted that Russia is increasing its expenditures on the war.
