Ukrainian media published a ranking of Ukraine’s ambassadors with the highest salaries.
Former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Moldova, Mark Shevchenko, ranked first. In the summer of 2024, he earned an average of 102,795 hryvnias (€2,300) per month after taxes. Despite being dismissed from his position in March 2024, Shevchenko continued to receive a salary according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In August, his income amounted to 186,349 hryvnias (€4,168).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also provided information on the salary of former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valeriy Zaluzhny, in his role as ambassador to the United Kingdom. His average salary for July-August 2024, after taxes, was 59,947 hryvnias (€1,340).
