Effective management in the army and competent leadership reduce the fear of serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
This statement was made by the former Prime Minister of Ukraine and newly appointed Minister of Defense, Denys Shmyhal.
“Effective management in the army (…) is a priority and the foundation for ensuring that people will not be afraid to join the Armed Forces, eliminating the need for forced mobilization,” he commented.
According to him, despite instances of forced conscription, mobilization is proceeding as planned, and many people are voluntarily joining the AFU.
Denys Shmyhal was appointed Minister of Defense on July 17, with 267 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada supporting his candidacy.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed Shmyhal for the position of Minister of Defense. He tasked the new minister with increasing the share of domestically produced weapons used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine from 40% to 50%.
