The German government allowed strikes on Russian border territory with German weapons

The German government has indicated that it does not oppose the use of German weapons in strikes on border areas of Russia from the Kharkiv region.

This statement was made by the official representative of the German government, Steffen Hebestreit, as reported by T-Online.

“The weapons we supply will be used in accordance with international law. We are convinced that under international law, Ukraine has the right to defend itself against these attacks,” he said.

He mentioned that it concerns “the liberation of Ukrainian territory” as well as the ongoing massive Russian attacks on Kharkiv, which are “prepared, coordinated, and executed” from positions in the border area adjacent to Russia.

Hebestreit did not specify which weapons might be used, but T-Online suggests that these could be the PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers and the Mars II multiple rocket launchers, which are capable of firing at a distance of over 100 kilometers.
