December 11, 2023Starting February 1, 2024, the Ministry of Social Policy aims to stop providing aid to able-bodied displaced persons, except those caring for children under three years old. This information was disclosed on the ministry’s official website.
As of September 2023, Ukraine had 3.7 million registered as able-bodied displaced persons (ADPs). Almost half of them are from Donetsk and Kharkiv regions (24% and 22%, respectively). Another third of them originated from Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Luhansk regions.
Nearly half of the displaced persons have had their homes destroyed or damaged. By November 2023, job vacancies in the Kherson region had plummeted by 83% compared to the figures from 2021, while in the Kharkiv region, they decreased by 62%.
