August 29, 2024Pavlo Kyrylenko, the head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, has posted a bail of 30 million hryvnias (approximately 653.9 thousand euros).
This information was reported by journalist Oleg Novikov on his Telegram channel.
This bail amount was set as a preventive measure in a case involving illegal enrichment of 56 million hryvnias (1.22 million euros). The prosecution had initially requested that Kyrylenko be arrested with the option of a 120 million hryvnias (2.6 million euros) bail.
Meanwhile, reports surfaced online indicating that during an interrogation, Kyrylenko’s father-in-law, Oleksandr Matienko, claimed that the assets in question were purchased using inheritance funds and money earned from business activities. Specifically, Matienko mentioned that he earned 300,000 dollars from raspberry trading alone.
According to media reports, a pre-trial investigation revealed that between 2020 and 2023, Kyrylenko, while serving as the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, acquired 21 properties and one luxury vehicle, registering them under his wife’s relatives. The total value of these assets amounted to 61.7 million hryvnias (1.34 million euros). However, the legal income of the official and his family members did not justify such purchases.
